"From my mid twenties to my mid thirties I was so absorbed by my own artistic ambitions of becoming a professional classical singer that I hardly ever thought about having children. And when I did, it seemed like something that would just eventually happen.
The first time I really realized I wanted a child, I was in my late thirties, and as I had by then changed paths and was doing another university degree, time just passed by and I only started trying to get pregnant in my early forties. I was convinced I would succeed with a natural pregnancy in maybe a year or two.
Instead it ended up taking almost a decade - during which all my major decisions were made based on this one desire, to become a mother - before I could finally, at the age of 50 and after various fertility treatments, welcome my son💙 into our mutual life.
Of course I wish I was younger, so we would have the prospect of spending more years together, but this was the option I was given, and I am so grateful he is finally here and absolutely love our life together."
