A Dream Come True: Julia and Ilonis’ Journey from IVF Struggles to a Baby after their First ET at O.L.G.A. Clinic

Julia:

Our journey started when I got pregnant for the first time. It happened very quickly, but sadly, I lost the baby early in the pregnancy. The doctors told me not to worry. They said that because I had already been pregnant, it would probably happen again. But months passed, and nothing happened. After my miscarriage, doctors also found some abnormal cells, and I needed an operation. When everything was over, I thought, "Okay, now we can try again."

But again, nothing happened.

And of course, people around us always said the same things:
"Just relax!"
"Stop thinking about it!"
"It will happen when you stop trying!"
I know they wanted to help, but these words made me feel even worse.
Because how can you stop thinking about something you want so much?

During this time, I started reading books about women who had problems getting pregnant.

I wanted to know how other women felt and how they managed to stay strong. One day, I read a book called Operation Baby.It was about a woman who went to the Olga Clinic in Saint Petersburg. She told her story and how much she wanted to become a mother. After reading her book, I started thinking about this clinic. I also told my husband about it.

But first, we decided to try IVF in Stockholm. We got four embryos.

After our first embryo transfer, we went to a seminar with Dr. Olga in Stockholm. And I will never forget this! After only 15 minutes, my husband looked at me and said: "We are going there! Everything they say makes sense!"

I was very happy because I had wanted to go there for a long time!

We still had embryos in Stockholm, so we decided to try one more transfer. But on the morning of the transfer, I started having brown spotting. I usually had this about one week before my period.

I called the clinic and said that I was worried. I asked if we should really do the transfer that day. But they told me to come because everything was already planned. I was very upset.

I cried on my way to the clinic. I cried during the transfer and after it. I felt that nobody wanted to listen to me.

And when you are going through IVF, it is so important to feel that someone cares about you. That day, I decided that I would not go back to that clinic. I wrote to the Olga Clinic, and our new journey started.

At first, I was very nervous. I had so many questions.

Where could I get the medicine? How would everything work? Who could help me in Sweden? But the clinic was always there for us.

They answered all my questions and helped us with everything. After our first visit, we felt that we had made the right choice. Everyone was so kind. The doctors listened to us, and we felt safe.

We chose the guarantee package, which helped us feel less worried. And then we got amazing news! We had seven healthy embryos! All our eggs had been fertilised!

We were so happy, and I will never forget our doctor's happy face when she told us.

During our second visit, I had a hysteroscopy. The doctors found only some inflammation in my uterus. To be honest, we were almost disappointed! We thought, "Really? That's all? Then what is the problem?" I got antibiotics, and after the treatment, something changed. The brown spotting I always had before my period disappeared! Maybe we had finally found the problem.

Then we had our first embryo transfer at the Olga Clinic. On day seven, I took a pregnancy test. It was negative, and I cried. But on day ten, I tested again.

And there was a second line!

My hands were shaking. I sent a picture to my sister and asked, "Can you see it, or am I imagining it?"
She said, "Yes, I can see it too!"
I was so happy!
But my hCG levels were not rising as they should, and I was very scared.
The clinic gave us so much support, especially our wonderful nurse Ekaterina.

And finally, our dream came true!

Our first transfer at the Olga Clinic gave us our beautiful daughter.

Today, when I look at our daughter, I remember all the tears, the waiting, and the hope.

I am so thankful that we found the Olga Clinic. For me, the most important thing was that the doctors listened to us and really cared.

To other women going through IVF, I want to say:

Don't be afraid to ask questions, trust yourself, and never be afraid to ask for help.

I also want to thank the woman who wrote Operation Baby. Her story helped us find this clinic, and maybe our story will help someone else.

A big thank you to Dr Olga, our doctor Natalia Spiller, our wonderful nurse Ekaterina, our administrator, our coordinator, and the whole team.

Thank you for helping us make our dream come true!
