Dr. Pavel Semenov

Obstetrician-gynecologist and Fertility Specialist

    My path towards my profession

I became interested in the profession of a doctor a few years before entering the University. This interest arose when I got acquainted with Anton Chekhov‘s short stories and with the image of such an honorable doctor described in his works. These stories became special to me also because I was born and grew up in the city of Chekhov, near which Anton Pavlovich Chekhov lived at the end of the 19th century. And when I was reading Chekhov as a boy and now for me being a doctor means serving those people who came to you for help. This is an opportunity to make someone's dreams come true.

Regardless of the fact that several generations of my family have been school teachers, the decision to be a doctor came easily enough to me. Probably because being a doctor is my calling.

After school, I entered the medical faculty of the university and began my studies at different departments. Some of them I perceived as just compulsory disciplines. But there were also those which were very inspiring to me. First it was pediatrics. Later, I was fascinated by endocrinology and the effect of hormones on human health. Then I realized that surgery also occupied a special place in my heart. In the meantime, a course in obstetrics started. It was led by a very enthusiastic teacher. I was so inspired by the opportunity to witness the birth of a new life that after a night of duty in the maternity hospital I was overwhelmed by the enthusiastic emotions from such an experience. On the 6th year of my studies, when choosing my residency, I entered the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. By that time, I already knew about reproductive medicine and the decision to choose my specialty was easy to make. After all, reproductive medicine comprises all the areas that have become interesting and close to me during my studies at the university: pediatrics, radiation diagnostics, surgery, endocrinology and obstetrics. And further practical experience has confirmed that fertility gives me the opportunity to be completely in love with my profession and that this is my conscious choice.

    The O.L.G.A. Fertility Clinic

Today I am happy to be a part of O.L.G.A. Clinic. I am sure that nowhere else there is such an approach to the patient as here. I'm talking about being able to act in the patient’s best interests 100% of the time. The process is built the way that it has in its core not the number of procedures performed, but the achievement of the patient's goal. Also, the doctors’ team here closely follows modern research and discoveries and is always ready to discuss opportunities for development and improvement. I think the clinic's success lies in its attitude to boundaries. There are no boundaries in the minds of O.L.G.A. team, which helps to do everything for the patient that leads to the achievement of her goal.

    My personal interests

My life is always about achieving something.

One area of achievement for me is sports. Once I got into skateboarding, later into skiing and running. Sport gives me a great pleasure to aim for the result and achieve it. I also like sports because losing is not the final result, but only one of the ways towards the goal, the victory.

Another area of my interests is self-development. I read a lot. I study information about various medical investigations. Alongside with the classical Russian literature I like books about developing the skills of cooperation and interaction. I am interested in self-development as it is an opportunity to reach new heights through the acquisition of new knowledge and its implementation.

Another great love of mine is programming. For me, this is an opportunity to solve complex logical problems. I like programming for its process of finding a solution, and for the moment when I get the result. It's both distracting and energizing at the same time.

Photography helps me emotionally switch: editing and retouching photos, creating collages is a pleasant activity, as it has both creativity and algorithms that must be applied for a good technique.

And I have one more area that now gives me a lot of resource. This is my home and time spent with my loved ones. Such moments give warmth, serenity and energy.

All my interests are an opportunity to get different types of energy: the energy of being ready to run fast, and the energy that allows you to stop and see something important. But running I like more. Because, as for me, behind any achievement there is a huge work, consisting of hundreds and thousands of steady steps...
