My path towards being an embryologist
Medicine runs in my family, so I’ve never really second-guessed my career choice. I’ve studied medical biophysics in Moscow and in 2019 I graduated with honors from Russian National Research Medical University. My academic experience includes participating in scientific studies of mitochondria and oxidative stress in patients with obstetrical complications and infertility. During that time I, so to speak, fell in love with reproductive medicine in which fundamental biological knowledge meets the clinical perspective.

My academic experience includes participating in scientific studies of mitochondria and oxidative stress in patients with obstetrical complications and infertility. During that time I, so to speak, fell in love with reproductive medicine in which fundamental biological knowledge meets the clinical perspective.
My path after graduating from the university could have been connected with science more than with practical medicine. But in 2019, I was invited to work at O.L.G.A. Fertility Clinic, and I started engaging into activities that are in many ways quite similar to scientific, and, in my opinion, no less important.
For sure, embryologists are neither magicians nor gods; but every day we get to see a sneak peek of what is normally hidden about the origin of life — something you can never get bored with. There is something thrilling and magic about the thing that right now I am taking care of the growing embryos and later on, on a due date, somewhere far away, sometimes even on the other side of the Earth, children will be born…
The O.L.G.A. Clinic
The place where I’m privileged to work now could fulfill the demands of the pickiest person — both from the professional and human point of view. At the very moment I saw Dr. Olga and Dr. Elena (and later the rest of the Team) in action, I was captivated by the evidence-based — but also «heart-based» — approach to the treatment they pursue in their work.
Of course, every achievement is always the result of teamwork. I value a lot this feeling of being a part of the well-oiled machine each piece of which is my colleague whose professionalism I trust undoubtedly. Working to make somebody’s dream come true and together with the colleagues from whom I keep on learning – it is indeed a big responsibility and a great opportunity.
All in all, everything that happens within the walls of our clinic is done in the name of our brave patients and their dream of parenthood.
Work experience
Since 2019 — The O.L.G.A. Fertility Clinic, embryologist.
Education and further professional training
2019 — Russian National Research Medical University named after N.I. Pirogov, Department of Medical Biophysics, biophysicist (higher education)
2019 — «ICSI, practical course», by «ORIGIO», Saint-Petersburg
2020 — «Assisted reproductive techniques and practical embryology: simulation-based training course on embryology»; First St. Petersburg State Medical University named after academician I.P. Pavlov.
My personal interests
I am convinced that the work of an embryologist should not be limited to just mechanical manipulations. In my opinion, the human body is the most fascinating object to study and an amazing creation of nature.
Therefore, outside the laboratory, I devote a lot of time to deepening my knowledge in related fields of biology and medicine.
I also try to leave time in my schedule for the fruits of human imagination - classical music, theater, and exhibitions. It helps me to "recharge my batteries" and put my thoughts in order.
