And\u00a0now I know they were right. I\u00a0graduated with honors from a medical college and\u00a0started working as\u00a0an OP nurse in\u00a0an ophthalmology department. Oh, I still remember these fantastic laser surgeries, microinstruments, accuracy and\u00a0fineness! However, the circumstances were such that\u00a0further on\u00a0I entered not a Medical University, but\u00a0the department of Biology in\u00a0the Leningrad State University (now Saint Petersburg State University). As\u00a0I was dreaming about medicine I chose to specialize in\u00a0embryology and\u00a0by a stroke of luck I was admitted to the D. O. Ott Research\u00a0Institute\u00a0of\u00a0Obstetrics\u00a0and Gynecology. There I wrote my course projects, wrote and\u00a0defended my graduation thesis and\u00a0started my career as\u00a0a molecular cytogeneticist in\u00a0the laboratory of prenatal diagnostics of hereditary diseases.<\/p>\n<h3>What it means for\u00a0me to be an embryologist<\/h3>\n<p>Throughout all my work experience as&nbsp;an embryologist I have always had the feeling of a miracle being born and\u00a0the understanding that\u00a0I did everything I could the way it must be done. And\u00a0the highest satisfaction for\u00a0me is to realize that\u00a0I helped a new life to come into the world. This feeling is getting even\u00a0bigger when\u00a0in\u00a0a quite desperate situation there are still several sperms found, you see normal fertilization, the embryo transfer is done and\u00a0when not the most good-looking and\u00a0top but\u00a0so dear to my heart blastocysts give a positive pregnancy test and\u00a0you wait for\u00a0the ultrasound and\u00a0finally receive a baby photo. This result of such work is priceless for&nbsp;me, and&nbsp;it is definitely priceless for&nbsp;the patients.<\/p>\n<p>When\u00a0I started my path in\u00a0embryology my daughter was 4 years old and\u00a0now\u00a0her son, my grandson, is also 4 years old! My two daughters have grown up very fast, and\u00a0now\u00a0I am already getting positive vibes from their children. Now&nbsp;my two grandsons always keep me busy: we go camping, travel together, go swimming, biking and\u00a0skiing. Indeed, it has already<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>been the whole generation! The whole generation of the kids who\u00a0I nursed in\u00a0the little dish and\u00a0cared for\u00a0in the very beginning of their lives! And\u00a0through all the years I have carried the feeling that\u00a0every embryo transfer, every tiny embryo, every precious cell is extremely important and\u00a0unique.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Undeniably, my work gives me vital energy. It is a real privilege to be able to help someone find the happiness of having a baby.<\/p>\n<h3>The O.L.G.A. Clinic<\/h3>\n<p>Our embryo lab in&nbsp;the\u00a0O.L.G.A. Clinic is a true team of likeminded professionals: a highly experienced embryologist and&nbsp;just a very nice person Dr Anna Gusareva, and\u00a0a quick learner and\u00a0very talented embryologist Dr Maia Shestakova. Working with them is a pure joy for\u00a0me. Fertility Clinic team.<\/p>\n<p>At&nbsp;the same time, with doctors and\u00a0other O.L.G.A. team members I have been working since&nbsp;the very beginning of the clinic, since&nbsp;1996. It was then that&nbsp;I started working as&nbsp;an embryologist in&nbsp;the Russian-Finnish clinic \u201cAVA-Peter\u201d. I studied the standards of work of an embryologist in&nbsp;the European IVF laboratory, where&nbsp;only certified culture media and&nbsp;consumables were used, where&nbsp;all processes were validated and&nbsp;standardized. From the very beginning of my work as&nbsp;an embryologist, I have followed these rules. In&nbsp;the European laboratory, I mastered all stages of IVF: embryo transfer, cryopreservation of sperm, embryos, oocytes, as&nbsp;well as&nbsp;ICSI and&nbsp;TESA.<\/p>\n<p>In\u00a02006 I became an Embryo Lab Chief in&nbsp;the \u00abAVA-Peter\u00bb Clinic. I had more areas of responsibility. I taught young specialists, worked on\u00a0opening and\u00a0management of the new labs of the clinic and\u00a0was in\u00a0charge of the preparation for\u00a0ISO certification. But\u00a0most of all I enjoyed not administration work but\u00a0daily meticulous manipulations in\u00a0my lab, learning and\u00a0developing new approaches and\u00a0techniques in&nbsp;embryology. Therefore, my great joy and&nbsp;pride is that&nbsp;in&nbsp;2009 our lab team was one of the first in\u00a0Russia that\u00a0implemented the method of fast freezing of embryos and&nbsp;oocytes \u2014 vitrification. Vitrification is much more effective than&nbsp;the slow freezing that&nbsp;was used before: the survival rate of embryos has increased from 75-80% to 95%! I gained my knowledge and\u00a0experience in\u00a0vitrification directly from the author of this technique \u2014 professor\u00a0Masashige Kuwayama. Under his guidance, I also gained the necessary experience in&nbsp;applying the method.<\/p>\n<p>In&nbsp;2018, I gladly accepted Dr. Olga Zaytseff&#8217;s offer to continue my professional path at&nbsp;O.L.G.A. Fertility Clinic.<\/p>\n<p>It is a blessing that&nbsp;Dr. Olga Zaytseff once&nbsp;created a team of involved people who&nbsp;care about high quality and&nbsp;about the results, and&nbsp;for&nbsp;whom the patient is a person, and&nbsp;a colleague is a companion. And&nbsp;it&#8217;s good that&nbsp;this initiative has grown into an excellent clinic based on&nbsp;these principles.<\/p>\n<h3>My personal interests<\/h3>\n<p>When\u00a0I was a student, I practiced jogging and\u00a0took a real delight it. One of my other big hobbies some time ago was yoga. I enjoyed everything about yoga: good people, hearty talks and\u00a0stretching physical exercises.<\/p>\n<p>Now&nbsp;my free time is always a range of different hobbies, which&nbsp;are dictated by great love for&nbsp;my family.<\/p>\n<p>When\u00a0my children were born and\u00a0were growing up, together with them I learnt how to ice skate as\u00a0it is easier to get a kid involved in\u00a0the process by showing your own example. While\u00a0children were growing up my hobbies were changing as\u00a0well \u2013 we rode bikes, went roller-skating and\u00a0mountain skiing. When\u00a0we needed more freedom of travel, I got my driving license. After\u00a0a while, my children became adults, and\u00a0my grandchildren were born. And\u00a0again, I now\u00a0follow the rhythm of the smallest family members\u2026We go to the theatres, enjoy roller-skating and\u00a0ice-skating\u2026<\/p>\n<p>One more thing I am in\u00a0love with is my garden where\u00a0I have fruit trees, small-fruit crops and\u00a0gorgeous roses. To my surprise, they have been growing on\u00a0their own for\u00a0many years. I love them a lot, but\u00a0I have no time to take proper care of them so\u00a0we made a pact that\u00a0they will manage by themselves and\u00a0I will nourish them with my love. Each side meets its commitment, and\u00a0our agreement has been bearing wonderful results for\u00a0many years in\u00a0a row.<\/p>\n<p>I have diverse hobbies in&nbsp;my life and\u00a0each of them is not so&nbsp;much the result of circumstances, but&nbsp;rather activities that&nbsp;really please my heart.
