Parameters for treatment using fertility donor eggs<\/strong><\/p>\n At O.L.G.A. Fertility Clinic, we can treat egg recipients up to the age of 50 in our egg donation program. Anonymous egg donation is allowed by Russian law, there is no deficiency in potential donor and there is no waiting list for people looking for fertility donor eggs. If you prefer to start treatment with the help of your own donor (such as a relative or friend), we can work this way too. However, the majority of our patients prefer to use an anonymous donor.<\/p>\n All the egg donors in O.L.G.A. Fertility Clinic database are aged under 30 and have a minimum one child of their own. Their average age is just 26. Once we have found you a suitable donor match and you have approved it, your fertility donor egg treatment can start.<\/p>\n Synchronising the menstrual cycles<\/strong><\/p>\n Both the egg donor and the egg recipient have to be at the start of their menstrual cycles in order to begin egg donation treatment. So the first task is to synchronise their menstrual cycles. Even if you don’t have a menstrual cycle any longer, or do not have a stable menstrual cycle, we can regulate one. This is done by prescribing contraception tablets to the donor and the recipient according to the agreed plan. In some cases recipients need several ‘probe’ cycles to make the uterine lining grow before starting the Embryo Transfer cycle. The tablets course is finished on the same date by the donor and by the recipient, leading to a ‘withdrawal bleed’ (menstruation) in both women. Now the two of you are ready to start your treatment.<\/p>\n The egg donor’s treatment <\/strong><\/p>\n Once the egg donor's period starts, she has an ultrasound examination (a scan of the uterus) to make sure that her ovaries are inactive and the womb lining is thin. Your egg donor then takes medication to induce her egg production. After several days, she has another scan. We decide when to suppress her own hormonal activity and prevent the early release of egg cells. A couple of scans will be performed during the course of the treatment to monitor the development of the follicles in her ovaries and regulate the hormone dosage. After about 10 days, she takes an additional hormone to prepare her nature eggs for collection. Egg collection is performed by extracting the eggs from the follicles using a needle introduced to the ovary through the vagina. The process is carried out under general anaesthetic to cause no pain to the donor. Your donor is personal to you and you will become an owner of all the eggs that are collected this time. Your donor then takes a rest for a while to allow the anaesthetic effects to wear off, and spends the left part of the day normaly. Her role is now over, and her next period will start in about 10 days.<\/p>\n The egg recipient’s treatment<\/strong><\/p>\n The woman who needs fertility donor eggs (egg recipient) to get pregnant may or may not still have a menstrual cycle. Whether or not you do, you will commonly be asked to take contraceptive pills for a certain number of days and then stop the course. This should induce a ‘withdrawal bleed’ or period. Sometimes several ‘probe cycles’ are needed to ensure that your uterine membrane grows well in response to the medication. Your O.L.G.A. Fertility Clinic doctor will mark this on your personal treatment plan. You may also have one more injection of a ‘down-regulating’ drug to optimise the period synchronisation with your donor. In most cases, you will then have a scan to ensure that the lining of your uterus is thin and that there are no cysts before the treatment cycle starts. (Donor eggs are of course very precious, and your O.L.G.A. Fertility Clinic doctor will want to ensure your womb is in the best possible shape to receive them.) This cycle includes taking oestrogen tablets, patches and\/or cream to build up your womb membrane again. Five days before the scheduled date for Embryo Transfer, you start taking progesterone in addition to oestrogen.
