\nCecilia @morotsliv<\/a>:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cA few years ago, my life took a significant turn. After a previous relationship ended, I met my current partner, and together we decided to move from Finland to Sweden.<\/em><\/p>\n

“We then started our fertility treatments with the county council trials in Sweden. Just as in Finland, the approach was standardized, with little to no adaptation based on individual needs. I repeatedly questioned this\u2014 Could something be done differently? Is there any room for adjustments? However, the answer was always the same: same recipe for everyone with no modifications.<\/em><\/p>\n

It was also a question of my age. I was 39 when we were doing the county council trials, approaching 40. We did our three trials, but didn’t get pregnant with any of them. I had never got pregnant before that either. When the treatments failed, the doctors recommended that we try egg donation.<\/em><\/p>\n

Even before reaching this point, I had heard about OLGA and was interested in their approach. However, given the pandemic, we initially decided to pursue egg donation in Finland, where egg donation had been established for a longer time than in Sweden. In hindsight, this turned out to be a waste of money, as the process followed the same rigid protocol. Even though this time it was donated eggs, they ran the same protocol over and over again and nothing stuck.<\/em><\/p>\n

As soon as we had done the third attempt and it didn’t work, we contacted the OLGA Clinic and got in touch with them before the summer 2021. By autumn, we made the decision to begin treatment with them. In October\/November, we took our first trip to St. Petersburg. During this visit, I had my egg retrieval, while my partner provided his sperm sample. I stayed for 12 days instead of the originally planned 10, as the clinic wanted to allow more time for the eggs to develop. This experience taught us the importance of having flexible flight tickets.<\/em><\/p>\n

In January, I returned for a hysteroscopy \u2014 something no one had previously suggested. That was the first time that anyone really cared about the environment in my uterus \u2014 How is it doing? What condition is it in? I was nervous about what they might find, but the procedure went smoothly, and the results were reassuring. This visit was relatively short, lasting only five days.<\/em><\/p>\n

Then, the war started, and that’s when it got exciting. We were supposed to go back in April 2022 for the first implantation but then I got Covid at the end of March. The doctors advised us to postpone the procedure for a month to allow my body to fully recover before implantation. When we finally returned in May, and then it didn’t work out.<\/em><\/p>\n

Following this setback, I had a discussion with my doctor. I mentioned that I rarely get sick, apart from COVID-19, and wondered if my immune system might be playing a role in the failed implantation. The medical team took this seriously, discussed it and then they started a slightly different treatment to prepare for the next time I was there in July 2022. That time it worked. For the first time in my life I saw a positive pregnancy test. At 41 years old, I was finally pregnant. It was absolutely fantastic.<\/em><\/p>\n

Now, I am well along in my pregnancy, feeling good. I am so incredibly grateful to the OLGA clinic, because I am also completely convinced that if I had continued to fight here in Sweden that nothing would have come of it. I am disappointed in the Swedish and Finnish IVF care and fertility care, because there I never felt truly heard or supported in my journey. At OLGA clinic, on the opposite, the doctors listened to what I asked about and what I pointed out. I think it is about respect. I appreciate it immensely and I am very grateful for this. If everything goes well, at the beginning of March, a little one will arrive, our little daughter.<\/em><\/p>\n
