Ultrasound monitoring of the follicle growth
Hormone therapy in female.
If hormone disorders are the reason for female infertility (e.g. thyroid gland disfunction or an excess of male hormones), the main disease is treated. If ovary functions are still impaired despite normalized or initially normal hormone level, they can be supported using the stimulation of oocyte maturation.
The stimulation is carried out using antiestrogen or medicines containing FSH – the primary hormone regulating ovarian maturation. Hormone therapy is conducted under a close ultrasound control to recommend the optimal conception time.
The objective of hormone therapy is the stimulation of oocyte maturation.
Hormone therapy in male.
Males are much more unlikely than females to develop hormone disorders. Hormone therapy can quite seldom result in improvement of sperm quality. Reduction of testis function resulting from shortage of LH and FSH can be treated with hormone replacement therapy. Other hormone balance disorders deteriorating the fertility can’t be treated with medicines. In this case the solution is artificial insemination, IVF and ICSI. The optimal treatment method is selected by the doctor.
