Eggs donors
At O.L.G.A. Fertility Clinic, we run our own base of eggs donors: fertile young attractive women who have successfully undergone our thorough physiological and psychological tests. A large amount of women who need donated eggs to conceive a child have met difficulties in finding an eggs donor who satisfies their requirements. Just a minority of women has a female relative or friend who wants and has an ability to undergo the egg donation procedure on their behalf.
Finding your own eggs donor
Egg donation is a process that requires a lot of responsibility from the donor. She must be ready to undertake a number of IVF treatment procedures up to and including the phase where her eggs are collected. She must be prepared to accept the idea that, if successful, the process will result in the birth of a child carrying her genes. She should also be familiar with the fact that the treatment has a chance to fail. Finding such a young lady among your relatives is difficult.
In some situations sisters or friends offer their participation as eggs donor, although just a small number of them is ready to come over the difficulties that egg donation involves. And even in that case, you may not like to accept the offer, for example if the woman concerned looks differently from you. It is a highly private issue, yet the potential eggs donor may be offended if you reject their offer. There may also be medical reasons why a person should not be an eggs donor. For instance, many clinics do not accept eggs donors who are overweight, or who are too old for the procedure to have a high probability of success. In addition to that, the potential eggs donor may feel under pressure to donate, and we have gone through a number of cases where an offer to donate is then taken back when the donor becomes more familiar with what is expected of her, or if she has changed her mind. For the infertile woman or couple who are entrusting their chances to have a child to this eggs donor, such a withdrawal can be depressingly upsetting.
Shortage of eggs donors
Unfortunately, it can also be difficult to find an eggs donor via a clinic or hospital. A large number of European countries now have laws strictly disallowing anonymous egg donation. Since this came into power, the amount of women offering to donate their eggs to help infertile couples has considerably gone down. In countries such as Switzerland and Norway, Germany and Austria, egg donation is absolutely forbidden. In the Netherlands, the majority of hospitals do not accept eggs donors under the age of 30, or those who have not completed their own family, and the egg recipients should be younger than 45. Even in countries with more tolerant laws, such as the UK, the retracting of anonymity led to reduction in the number of egg donors and waiting lists for egg donation up to several years. The chance of finding an eggs donor at all is low. And finding the one who satisfies your requirements, is in most cases almost impossible.
The O.L.G.A. Fertility Clinic Donor Bank
To overcome the deficiency inggs donors, O.L.G.A. Fertility Clinic has set up an eggs donor ‘bank’ of fertile, attractive, young ladies. Our donors all have proven fertility, with at least one child of their own. They have gone through comprehensive medical tests, and are ready to donate as soon as they are matched to their recipients. Thanks to these ladies, O.L.G.A. Fertility Clinic has no waiting list for egg donation. Find out more about our recruitment and screening process for eggs donors.
