General requirements

Corresponding to Russian law, egg donors (ovum donors) should be women who have good health aged between 20 and 35 who have at least one child of their own. These requirements comply with the prerequisites of the European Society for Human Reproduction (ESHRE). The average age of our egg donors is just 26 years, and no donor in our bank is older than 31. All our donors are anonymous, as this is supportet under Russian law.

If you would like to come with your acquaintance as an egg donor to O.L.G.A. Fertility Clinic, she may be even older than 35. Though you should keep in mind: the success rate of treatment is notably decreased when older egg donors are involved. The genetic risks increase also, especially in terms of conditions such as Down’s syndrome, so prenatal diagnosis is highly recommended.

How we screen candidates

At O.L.G.A. Fertility Clinic, egg donors go through an all-inclusive medical and psychological test to ensure they are in good health to donate. The screening starts with an interview to evaluate the general abilities and intellectual level of a potential donor.

According to Russian law and in compliance with the requirements of ESHRE and ASRM (the American Society for Reproductive Medicine), ovum donors in our clinic must pass the following tests:Lab tests

  1. Initial appointment with our doctor:
    • general abilities and intellectual capacity of a candidate;
    • common health history
    • reproductive history/gynecology
    • genetic history
  2. Ultrasound examination of ovaries and uterus
  3. HIV, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C (every 3 months)
  4. Chromosome screening
  5. Clinical blood test (RBC, WBC, hemoglobin) (every month)
  6. Clinical urine test
  7. Biochemical blood test (liver and kidney values, sugar, protein) (every month)
  8. Blood coagulation (every month)
  9. Electrocardiography (every year)

Egg donation is an easy and simple medical process with foreseeable successful results – healthy babies. The psychological aspect of accepting egg donation is significantly more complex, it needs information, dialog, support and time. Together with a brilliant therapist and our former patient Cilla Holm @jagvillhabarn, Dr. Olga is going to try to help you open the door to egg donation. Cilla became a mother using double donation in OLGA Clinic 7 years ago.
